Miracles
I had a beautiful experience today that I wanted to share. I got to watch a butterfly emerge from it's cocoon! It was incredible! It really made me stop and think about what a miraculous world we live in! I'll never understand how people can look at a majestic mountain or watch a sunset or look at a baby or see a butterfly and not believe in God! I'm so grateful for my knowledge that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that He created this world and everything on it for us! He did it because He loves us! Looking at the butterfly today, I felt a peace that I haven't felt for a while. I felt a calm assurance that no matter what life throws at us, if we rely on Heavenly Father, we can make it! Things may not go how we want them or when we want them to, but in the end things will work out!
I'm so blessed to be part of this family! I love all of you and can't wait to see you at the reunion! It's so important that we stay close!
Brooke, thanks again for setting up this blog!

Foolproof Whole Wheat Bread
HI
I just got a new toy yesterday, a wheat grinder, and I'm excited. I thought I'd test it out on bread and found this recipe and it had potatoes in it, so how could it go wrong. I made it and it turned out GREAT! I'm very excited and thought I'd share. If any of you want to come and visit and use my new toy, you're more than welcome. It's only 108 here today, but who's noticing.

Fool Proof Wheat Bread Recipe #267699
makes 4 loaves
2 tablespoons dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
5 cups hot tap water
9 cups whole wheat flour
3 cups white flour
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup honey (or sugar)
2 Tablespoons salt
2/3 cup potato flakes or oatmeal
preheat oven to 350.
Sprinkle yeast into 1/2 cup warm water, let stand 10-15 minute (you can add 1 tsp sugar to help it work faster.
combine hot water and 7 cups whole-wheat flour in mixer. Mix on low speed until well blended.
Add salt, oil, and honey. Continue to mix until well blended.
Add 1 more cup wheat flour and potato flakes or oatmeal, blend thoroughly.
add yeast mixture.
add 3-4 cups white flour and knead on low speed for 6 minutes (add enough flour that the dough leaves the side of the bowl but is still a little sticky - the consistency of cookie dough.
oil hands and mold into 4 loaves on oiled counter.
Place in oiled pans (pam works too)and let rise just to the tip of the pans. (if it rises too much it will create an air bubble underneath the crust).
Bake for 35-40.
Remove from pans to cool.
brush tops with butter.

Memories of Uncle Ray's Family
Uncle Ray came to Girl's Camp every year that I went. There were two times in particular that I remember the most. One year, when we stopped for lunch during our hike, the Leaders started handing out letters to each of the girls. They had had the parents write letters to their daughters! I got one from my Mom, but my Dad was in England at the time, so I wasn't surprised when I didn't get one from him. I was reading the letter from my Mom when one of the Leaders came up to me with another letter! It was from Uncle Ray! I still have that letter! It really made my day! The other Girl's Camp memory I have of Uncle Ray happened my last year at Camp. I was having a horrible time! Things just weren't going good at all! When Uncle Ray got there, I told him that I wanted to go home! He listened to me and let me cry on his shoulder and then he talked me into staying! I'm very grateful that he did that!
One more memory of Uncle Ray. When I was 16 and Matthew was 15 we went to England to visit our Dad. We left very early in the morning on Uncle Ray's Birthday. Even though it was early, Uncle Ray came over before we left to give both of us a Priesthood blessing! It was very touching!
My favorite memory of Aunt Jenny happened when I was either 16 or 17. She decided that we were all too old to be sleeping outside together at reunions! After that, we had to have the boys on one lawn and the girls on another lawn! What she didn't know was that this caused more mischief than normal because we decided that it would be fun to throw things at each other across the driveway or house or whatever was separating us!
My favorite memory of Brooke happened when we went to the Manti Pageant when I was 19 and Brooke was 16. On the way back, Matthew was driving, Brooke and I were sitting in the front, and Mom, Andrew, and Edward were in the back. Brooke's and my job was to keep Matthew awake. That wasn't a problem because Matthew was in a silly mood and he had us laughing so hard that Brooke almost wet her pants! It was a very fun trip!
Mary's wedding will always be one of my favorite memories! When she walked in it was like looking at Aunt Jenny! The Spirit was very strong there! There was also something funny that happened at Mary's wedding! Grandpa was sitting pretty close to the Sealer, but he couldn't hear him. Everyone else could hear Grandpa though! He kept saying, "Can you hear him? I can't hear him!" After that he started to doze off and Grandma Carma smacked him! I still laugh every time I think about it!
Esther lived with us for a while. One time we were coming back to Boise from Blackfoot with Esther and one of her friends and we got caught in a traffic jam. There was a vehicle behind us with two guys in it that were about Esther's age. Esther and her friend kept us laughing by writing notes to the guys and putting them up in the window! The guys quickly found some paper and started answering them back! It was funny! After we got home, Esther and her friend thought it would be funny to dump water on Matt. Needless to say, they were the ones that ended up soaked!
Amber use to have quite a temper! I remember my Mom getting calls from Brooke asking her to come down an rescue them from Amber! I also remember a good thing about Amber. I remember how neat it was to see her as part of the Choir during one of the Sessions of General Conference a couple of years ago! She'd grown up so much that I almost didn't recognize her!
Adam, I don't really have a specific memory of you. I just loved watching you try to make it with all of those older sisters!
One last memory- When Uncle Ray and Eliz got married, Uncle Ray embarrassed poor Eliz by introducing her (in the Sealing Room of the Temple) as the newest Elizabeth Taylor!

Note from Rochelle: I cornered Matt while he was taking a bath to get him to answer these questions. It's the only way I could get him to do it! I hope that explains question 2 and hope that no one is offended! For any of you who know Matt, you know that these answers are pretty mild for him! I had to veto a few answers! Pearson boys
Just as a side note, LaDean was not alone when the four little naked Pearson boys went streaking down the stairs! I've never heard LaDean laugh so hard! Uncle Delrey opened the garage door and then the basement door and then stood there saying, "Hurry! Hurry!" as the boys ran in their Birthday suits down the stairs! It was very funny!

OK, one more ditch story.
HI,
My boys will KILL me, for posting this one, but Brooke's post reminded me of it, and it's a classic.
OK, we were living in Kansas, and were visiting Dad and LaDean, staying in their basement. As we ALL remember, LaDean was quite a fanatic about a clean house. Anyway... I'm not sure where I was, but I had left Delrey watching the boys. Some how, they got in the mud, and of course, Delrey knew he couldn't take them inside to get them cleaned up. so, thinking he was 'home alone' he had the boys (Ben, age 8, Robert and Jeremy,6 and David 4) remove their clothing, and he hosed them off, outside. Again, thinking no one was home, and forgetting that LaDean went running towards the door, any time she heard it opening, to make sure we took off our shoes, he told the boys to run downstairs. Anyway, LaDean hears the door open and comes running in to see 4 naked boys running down stairs! The funny thing about it, was that moment made us ALL ease up, and realize LaDean had a tremendous sense of humor, because she laughed until she cried. And she and Delrey were best buddies after that. She would tell people of the 4 little naked boys running down stairs! I do miss LaDean!!!
Sorry boys!!!
love,
THEIR MOM! (Aunt Betty)

Memories of Uncle Roy and Aunt Carma's Family
I'm so glad that so many people are getting into posting memories!
My favorite memory of Uncle Roy and Aunt Carma took place in London, England! Matthew and I were in England visiting our Dad for the summer. (he was in the Air Force) Uncle Roy and Aunt Carma were there too! We arranged to meet them in London. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed walking around Trafalgar Square, past the Houses of Parliament, and several other places. We ended up in St. James Park, overlooking Buckingham Palace. Uncle Roy had brought Bree Cheese and Pumpernickel Bread with him for us to share. It was an incredible day!
I don't have a lot of memories of Mike. I do remember at one family reunion, Grandpa had watered the lawn. Most of us were running around, playing in the water. Mike and Edward (Edward was only about 2) were sitting on the front steps of Grandma and Grandpa's house with fishing poles, fishing for sucker fish! I just remember thinking that Mike was really sweet to do that with Edward!
I remember Becky coming to visit from BYU for Thanksgiving. I remember her going Christmas shopping with us one time. We stopped at McDonalds for dinner and Mom told Becky that she'd pay for her food. Becky started to tell my Mom that she'd pay for herself and Mom told her that if she paid for herself, she could walk home! (we were in Pocatello- thirty miles from Blackfoot!) Becky let Mom pay and never argued with her again!
I stayed with Liz at her apartment a few days before her wedding. The morning of her wedding, she woke me up by rolling over me! She did it several times! She was so excited (and I think nervous) that it took her 10 minutes just to get her nylons on straight!
I also remember staying with Liz and Christian at their basement apartment in Provo. Joe and Sarah were there too. The people who lived upstairs were gone, so we turned up some music and danced all over! What a blast!
I have to be careful what memories I share about Joe because they could incriminate me as well! I think my favorite memory of Joe would have to be when we were both 18. We drove to 40 Horse Cave (about 45 minutes from my Mom's house) and just spent the day talking and exploring. On the way back, we got really hyper and silly! We stopped and picked some sunflowers for Aunt Betty (she lived in Kansas at the time so we thought she'd like them!) and then stopped at the grocery store and got noodles and Alfredo sauce! We went back to my Mom's house (because everyone else was at Grandpa's and we didn't want to share) and fixed the food. The guy I was dating came over and he got mad because I was paying more attention to Joe than I was to him! (What can I say? Joe was funnier! I broke up with the guy about a week later!)
I remember hiking up to the Timpanogas caves with Joe and John. They decided that it would be fun to run up and then run down the trail. I was so surprised that neither of them fell and broke a leg!
I remember hiking up "Y" mountain in Provo with Joe and Sarah. We did it at night and we decided that we didn't need the trails! We just took off straight up! We were so sore the next day that we could hardly move!
I have other memories of the Pretes, but I'll save them for the reunion!

Memories
Morning,
I've enjoyed reading everyone's memories. I have millions, but will just write a few right now. I need to get back to work, but the computer keeps drawing my attention.
Being THE BABY of the family, I have a lot of different memories than everyone else. I remember a lot of farm work, wedding potatoes, killing the potato bugs, lining up the hay bales, rough side down (or up, can't remember) unloading the grain trucks, by pulling the boards, hand feeding cows, branding day, burning ditches, cutting potatoes, and the list could go on and on... weeding and picking a HUGE garden, etc. I'm sure I didn't always do all of this willingly, but it was a great heritage in learning to work. I wish my kids had more of these opportunities. The thing was mom was always right there, working with us. I'm sure she got tired of my complaining, but she never murmured, at all.
I remember being so excited to get rid of the ugly carpet, in our living room, and get that what we later called HORRIBLE gold, carpet, that stained so badly and NEW CURTAINS. And of course, I remember the building of the fire place! Dad's pride and joy. He spent hour and hours arranging the rocks so they would go together perfectly. Oh, and the rock garden. I remember our trips to Montana to get those rocks. I am not sure it's still there, but there was, at one time a rock that weight 948 pounds and Dad and Brother Ellis, mom and I, loaded it on the pick up. I'm not sure how we weighed it, but Dad figured out how. I'm sure it's still there!
I remember learning to sew, with mom's patient help. I never knew you could buy a dress in a store, as all ours were made at home. I was 28 before I bought my first dress from a store! (and I'm only 46 now). I've been grateful for those skills I learned.
Well, I don't want to take up an entire page, but it's fun to think about old times!
take care!
love
Aunt Betty (Mom, who ever!)

Well, I don't want to take up an entire page, but it's fun to think about old times!
take care!
love

Memories growing up
Hi,
I thought that I would get into the memory posts. I wanted to tell about a couple of things that I remember growing up.
One year was when Aunt Carma was playing "dog". Joyce asked her to do it again and had the camera ready. She did a good job of catching it.
Another time when was Carma was home for one summer in between her semesters at BYU. She and Joyce were inside working. I was outside in the strawberry patch out past the haystacks helping my mom pick strawberries. A while later, Joyce and Carma came outside with a dilemna. Carma had taken the rack that held the strainer, used for applesauce, and put it on her head. Joyce tried it, too, and it got stuck. They came out to us with it stuck on her head. We finally had to get a file or something to cut the metal.
I also remember another time when Aunt Betty was pretty little and locked herself in the bathroom and was straddling the bathtub with the hot water running. She was stuck in that position and couldn't get into the tub as it was too hot. We finally found a little screw driver in Ray's electro set to open the door. We finally found a key later that we didn't know was there. I was glad that Betty didn't get scalded before we rescued her.
There are lots more memories but I will post as I think of them.

Ditch Memories
So, I don't actually remember this, but I've been told enough about it that I thought I would share. Apparently, I took a swim with Matthew and Rochelle in the ditch between Grandpa and Aunt Joyce's houses.... It was a nekked swim! And I got in trouble. One of the aunts - remarked that they had never heard anyone get chewed out in Chinese before. Hee hee hee...
Another memory is making zucchini or cucumber boats to float them down the ditch. Grandpa always had a knack for making them grow, and grow, and grow, and grow. Must be the soil.... or the 3,000,000 plants that got put in the ground! :)

Musical Memories
Way to go Rochelle, I like your memory post. I'll start my recollection of memories with one that involves you.
I remember one time when my family was driving to Blackfoot to visit. I was probably around 8-10, which would put Rochelle at about 11-13 years old. We pulled into Aunt Joyce's driveway, and my mom, Janet, started to honk the car horn to announce our arrival. Everyone came running out of the house, telling us to be quiet. It turns out that Rochelle had been trying desperately to record a specific song on the radio. This was before the time of instant music downloads from itunes. She had a tape recorder that she put next to the radio, and had to press a button to record. The only problem was, it recorded all sounds, not just the radio, so you had to be very quiet while you recorded the song of choice. I think this was her third attempt, and the DJ had started to play it just as we pulled up. Sure enough, when she played it back, over the sound of the song was the honking of our car horn!! Sorry Rochelle. :)

It's great to be an aunt! (and Mom))
I have just had some special days. We were honored to have Cindy and Derek, Jason, Danny, Craig, Mindy and Emmalee stay with us for a couple of days while they were here for Grandpa Haroldsen's funeral. They were a delight to have here! They seemed right at home "down on the farm" where they got to feed the horses, and pig and play with the dogs and the cats and our kitten, Weasley! We enjoyed riding the small four wheeler we have here. (it belongs to Randy's son, Blake) Everyone remember to ask Randy if he likes riding the four wheeler from his backside! He took off on the four wheeler and did an unplanned wheelie and fell off backwards onto the ground! I even caught it on film! We had a lot of fun! I really enjoyed visiting with them. I look forward to seeing them again at the family reunion and everyone else!) We also got to visit Janet and Brian yesterday. Then we were excited to have Andrew, Heather and their kids, Zeke, Ethan and Kya stay with us for a couple of days, too. They went home this morning. the house seems so quiet now! I did have a nap this afternoon! Grandpa Taylor really enjoyed everyone here, especially the kids. If anyone else is traveling through, please stop in!
Memories
One of the things this blog is suppose to be for is to post memories of each other. Over the next week I'm going to try to go family by family and list some of my favorite memories!
I'll start with Grandma and Grandpa Taylor.
Growing up next to Grandpa and Grandma, I have lots of memories. Some of my favorite memories of Grandma involve working in the garden, raspberry and strawberry beds, and flower beds. She always made garden work into a contest which made it fun! When we picked raspberries or strawberries she would give each of us an empty Cool Whip container with two small holes at the top. We would put twine through the holes and then tie the container around our waists. Then we would race to see who could fill their container first! In the garden we would race to see who could weed their row first! She always made work fun!
Grandma and I had a special thing that we'd do. Whenever I was at her house, before I went home, she'd look at me and say, "Don't forget..." and I'd say, "I love you!" One thing that has helped me when I start missing her is the knowledge that the last thing I said to Grandma was "I love you!"
For Grandpa, I remember going places with him in his old, ugly green car! He would reach under the seat and pull out candy that had been sitting there so long that you had to suck on it for about 10 minutes before you could chew it! When he got his new trailer he took Matthew and I "camping" in it out by the haystacks. He brought Twizzlers chocolate licorice. Matthew and I were planning on it being hard, but it was actually fresh! We were very surprised!
One more recent event that happened with Grandpa that is always going to be a favorite memory:
We had an Easter egg hunt at our house on General Conference weekend. My Mom and Randy brought Grandpa with them for it. When it was time to find the eggs, we asked Grandpa if he wanted to come outside and watch the kids look for eggs. He came outside and JOINED them! It was so cute to see Grandpa hunting Easter eggs! He was actually racing the kids to get to a couple of the eggs! It's a memory that my boys will always treasure too! How many kids can say that they hunted for Easter eggs with their Great-Grandpa?!

This is Rachel's uncle
HI, just letting you know this family is Rachel's uncle. The 3rd girl is in serious, but stable condition, tonight. It was first reported the dad had all 4 of their girls with him, and 3 were killed, but the mom had the baby. Rachel and her Aunt Jennifer, are on their way to Boise tonight, to help out. Rachel's mom probably won't be able to come from El Salvador. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Three die in Gem County truck accident

BOISE - One man and two young girls are dead following a traffic accident near Sweet.
Police say David Coburn was traveling with his three daughters along the Sweet-Ola highway when the accident happened around 11:30 Saturday morning.
The girls are identified as Ellie and Kaitlyn Coburn, aged 4 and 8.
The condition of the third daughter is not known.
Officers say the family was rounding a corner in their Ford pickup - when another Ford truck hauling an old trailer came from the opposite direction.
The trailer came loose sending some pipes rolling.
The pipes got under the family's Ford F-350.
The truck lost control and went down a 25-foot embankment, and rolled.
We're told the truck went into some deep creek water over the embankment.
The other driver does not have any injuries.
