Another animal story

It seems Randy and I seem to have some 'animal magnitism' lately. We just got back from camping at Lake Walcott state park, north of Burley. While we were there we saw a racoon along the side of the lake. We took some pictures of it. I will post one or more later. Anyway, we saw it again later in the evening in a tree. When we went to bed I was careful to make sure all of the food was secure. i wasn't worried about the garbage since it was just paper and plastic. However, around 12:30 in the morning, I heard a noise outside. I went outside to see a racoon getting into the garbage. It ran off a little ways when I came out of the tent. I went to the garbage to pick it up so I could lock it in the car. The racoon started coming toward me. I didn't want to yell since I didn't want to disturb the neighbors. I clapped my hands and swung the light towards it. It didn't flinch a bit and kept coming towards me. I wasn't sure if it would attack me for the garbage or not. It got a few feet from me and I was going to make a hasty retreat. All of a sudden Randy came out of the tent. The racoon didn't back off at all. Randy proceeded to throw a frisbee at the racoon. It skimmed over its' head. The racoon started to run off. Randy threw another frisbee and hit the racoon on the head! No wonder he beat me at frisbee golf! Needless to say, no more racoon! It was really something to see! Moral of the story, don't get Randy mad when he has a frisbee in his hands! Or else, don't get into the garbage when he has a frisbee in his hands! Raccoon The racoon will agree! The rest of the camping trip was HEAVENLY! It was great to get away!

4 more days

Morning
4 more days until Jeremy and Rachel's wedding. Lots of last minute stuff to do, but I'm fairly calm. We'll see how I am Wed. evening when everything has to be done!

Just letting you know that the wedding is at 9:45 am in the Mesa Temple. The reception is from 7 to 9 at the Stake Center in Casa Grande, Arizona and another one in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, on July 12th. So far, I think Rachel and Jeremy are fairly calm about everything. I don't think they realize how much there is left to be done (all the flowers, decorating the arch, and quite a bit of the food). Rachel's parents get off thier mission maybe today or yesterday. not sure, but they have a couple of days in Texas, with thier son, before getting here into WEDDING CENTRAL. I can't even imagine what her mom is going through, but I guess we'll some what find out on Wednesday. Hopefully everything will go smooth and we won't have any troubles.

Take care. And anyone related to the Taylor's is invited to the wedding and reception. Also, check out the blog as I hope to post pictures Wed. and Thurs. to keep you updated on what is going on. I will admit I have trouble with converting pictures from my camera to JPEG form, so hopefully I can get Delrey or one of my kids to help me so I don't get frustrated and give up.

take care!

A TRUE Bear story

Randy got home from being a priesthood leader at girls camp. They came home a day early. It seems that this morning, around 5:30, one of the leaders in our ward, was half asleep. She felt herself being pulled out of her tent. She thought it was some girls doing a prank. When her airmattress went flat, she checked it out. She found a slash in it and a slash in her tent. She went to the Bishop to complain that someone had a knife. When the bishop checked it out, he realized it was a BEAR that had made the slashes and tried to pull her out!! It apparently was spooked before it could get her out very far. The bear was spotted several time around the camp. the stake president decided to close the camp early. Thank heavens no one was hurt! Prayers for the safety of loved ones are answered! We used to just tell folk tales about bears when I was at girls camp!

Football games and single ladies

I was just reading some of Anna's posts about enjoying footbal games and remembered something I just had to share:

I think that it was around the time Anna was born, because Aunt Joyce and Aunt Betty were there as well as my family. So for some reason Brooke was driving our van with Aunt Joyce, Aunt Betty, my sisters, and me around the BYU campus. There was also a football game that day. Well lets just say that between all the people we decided to play who do you think is cutest with the pedestrians. At the time Aunt Betty was the only one married, and was rather embarassed that all of the other ladies (Aunt Joyce included) were making such a rucas while stuck in traffic with the windows rolled down. It was fun.

I'm Back!!!!

After a week in Utah, we finally got our computer! The moving company is SLOW! It's nice to feel like I'm back in touch with the world!
Matt's really enjoying his new job! He goes to work at 7 a.m. and comes home at about 5:30 p.m. He found out that since his group puts in an hour or so more every day than the other groups that on Fridays, they all go home around 3 p.m.! That's good news for us because it means that we'll be able to leave for things like, oh say, reunions earlier in the day and avoid Salt Lake City rush hour traffic!!!!!!
We're in an apartment in Draper until we sell our house in Boise and get a house here! It's nice, but it's weird not having our own furniture. (It's a furnished apartment)
I'll keep everyone posted!

Now that the weather is nice.

Isabelle
Lily

It's been fun to take the girls outside to play.

Father's Day for Grandpas too!

Dad really enjoyed playing grandpa on Father's Day!

Maddy, Lily, and Izzy sure had fun too!
The trampoline was the magic trick to help them remember that they love their Grandpa Taylor.

Brought to you by Jeremy!

Rochelle and her husband Matt went out for pizza at the Brick Oven in Provo UT with Jeremy and his fiance, Rachel at the beginning of June. During the whole dinner, everyone in the party was laughing hysterically! We made sure to make the most complicated pizza order we could possibly make. Matt insisted on calling over a girl who was making balloon animals. By the time she was finished, Matt had a jester hat, Rachel had a hat with a big flower, Rochelle's had a palm tree with a monkey hanging off of it, and Jeremy had an alien that wrapped around his head and sat on his shoulder's complete with a laser gun. Matt made sure that we all wore them on our walk back to Rachel's apartment.

Hot Summer Days

Who can think of anything better to do on a hot summer day, than hanging out in the back yard, eating juicy watermelon?  Emily had a great time.

Reunion Survey

Each of you should have received an email from me for the Reunion Survey. As we are finalizing some of the details, we need your input. If you didn't receive an email, please click here for the survey. Spread this around to all that are related to us. I would like everyone to give answers by the 20th of June and I will reply to all and post the agenda here.

Thanks for your help and I'm sure I'll be calling on you to give further help. I'm looking forward to visiting with all of you. Please mark your calendars for July 26, 2008 for the first (with more to come) reunion this century.

There will be a follow-up survey to decide things like how long to wait before another reunion, who gets to be in charge, where, when, what kind of activity, etc, etc, etc (But DON'T worry about this until later.)

Have a fantastic week and get your survey in. PLEASE answer the survey only once for your immediate household.

The main fam that got us started

This is Gail Taylor's family.

Crazy weather

Wow! I think it was about 80 degrees and sunny yesterday, but this morning it started to rain. The rain started coming down so hard, our storm drains couldn't keep up with it. Here is a picture of the river that is running past our house. (thankfully the only thing that flooded was the street!)

Anything will come out of Shag!

Red and black Shag carpet may not be the prettiest carpet to have, but if you have kids, it's awesome! The realtor is coming today to take pictures of our house and hopefully get it on the market. Matt and I were doing some last minute straightening when Matt discovered that about a half of a gallon of white paint had spilled on our "lovely" Shag carpet in the basement! He was upset and figured that we'd have to take out at least part of the carpet to fix the problem! He decided to try cleaning it up first. He got out his shop-vac, dumped water on the paint, and vacuumed it up. It ALL came out!!!!! Shag is amazing! (Not that I want it in our new house!)

David's HUMP DAY

HI
David is coming up, on his Hump day (1 year mark) and it's 2 days after Jermey's wedding. I know he will do OK, but it still will be kind of hard to not be to the wedding, so if anyone would like to send him a HUMP DAY card, I know he'd really appreciate it.

You know you live in Idaho if...

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in Idaho .

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you live in Idaho .

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed the wrong number, you live in Idaho .

If 'vacation' means going anywhere south of Salt Lake City for the weekend, you live in Idaho .

If you measure distance in hours, you live in Idaho.

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in Idaho .

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' and back again in the same day, you live in Idaho .

If you install security lights on your house and garage but leave both unlocked, you live in Idaho .

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Idaho .

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you live in Idaho .

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80, and everyone is still passing you, you live in Idaho .

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you live in Idaho .

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Idaho .

If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly' you live in Idaho .

Moving Date

Today we officially got our moving date. We'll leave on Saturday, June 14! It will be cheaper for us if we have Micron transport our cars, so we'll be flying from Boise to Salt Lake (Micron pays!) and will have a rental car (Micron pays!) until our cars get there. The apartment that Micron is putting us in is a 3 bedroom and completely furnished. The complex has a pool, exercise room, and playground, so that will be nice! We'll stay there for a couple of months while we get the house here sold and find a house there. It's taken us longer than we thought to get the house here on the market, but we should have it listed on Tuesday! We're trying to get the outside painted, but the weather isn't cooperating! We should have it done on Friday or Saturday.
Matt and I will be leaving next Friday (June 6) for a 5 day trip (Micron pays!) to look at our apartment, start house hunting, and get a feel for the area. The day after we get home is when the movers will start loading everything up! It's going way fast! I'm sure we'll have the movers bring the computer to the apartment (at least I hope Matt's planning on that!) so hopefully I'll only be out of the loop for a couple of days! I can't believe how fast it's coming! Utah, here we come!
