HI everyone.
Not a subject my kids like to get thier dad started on,(he has his master's in civil engineering, and specialized in water sytems and safety for a lot of years.) but had to comment on Brooke saying you need to purchase water. In a nutshell, no need to buy water at all. Our tap water is safer than bottled water, for storing, because the stuff they take out of tap water, to make the flavor better, allows bacteria to grow in it. Notice, there's a expiration date on bottled water for this reason. If you want to know more, check lds.org and while they don't get into specifics about bottled water, they recommend the red cross's safety recommendations, which tells you how to purify water. Great idea, though, Brooke! We all need to get our food storage!
I like my tap water. Does tap water need to be treated with bleach?
The reason I suggest purchasing is because finding bottles for storage requires some creative thinking - and is nearly as expensive as just purchasing the water already bottled.
Thanks for the info!
Don't forget important things like shampoo, soap, toothpaste, other hygene items, cleaning supplies, (including laundry detergent) and (very important!) toilet paper! Also, if you have a pet, be prepared for them as well!
Also, don't forget first aid supplies!
