Aunt Carma says hi

O

Hi, everyone,

It is snowing here today, again. We are having a real bona fide Canadian winter this year.

Uncle Roy just returned from a trip to France and Belgium. He went with a group of cadets from the Royal Military College of Canada, and some professors, to tour a number of battlefields from World War I and World War II. He enjoyed the 9-day trip very much, but he is glad to be home.

I am busy this week preparing for our District Primary leadership meeting. I am the District Primary president. I hope we can instruct and motivate the Primary leaders in our district.

We're looking forward to the reunion on July 26. We will be in Alberta for a week or 10 days before the Taylor reunion, visiting Becky and attending the Roy Prete family reunion in Magrath. I believe that all our children and grandchildren will be at the Prete reunion. I think that John and Emma have to get back to New York and won't be able to come to the Taylor reunion, and probably the same for Mike and Sam. But I hope most of the rest of us will be at the Idaho reunion on the 26th.

I saw various pictures of some of my grandchildren on the Blackfoot Taylors' blog, but I didn't see any of Joe's children or Mike's son Sam. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll post a few pictures of them now. The photo on the top left is Mike and Sam. They made a cardboard sled, the K-Rocket, for a contest last week. They did a really good job on it. The photo on the top right is Anna Bryner, Emma Prete (Joe's oldest daughter, age 6) and Sara Prete (Joe's 2nd daughter, age 4). On the bottom left is Olivia Phyllis Prete, Joe and Haylee's newest baby born 20 December 2007. The one on the right is Hannah Laurleen Prete, Joe and Haylee's 2nd youngest girl, who will be 2 in a week or so.

Love, Aunt Carma

Adam

Adam just got a new job as a compressor mechanic in Powell, Wyoming.
In case you are wondering where it is, here is the mapquest link.

He will be moving as soon as he can get an apartment.

Debbie's growing family

Top to bottom, left to right are Chris, Nathan, Debbie, Jennifer, Savannahm Alex and Robert. They were home with baby less than 24 hours after she got to the hospital. All is well.

Who am I?

I guess I forgot to include who I am in the family.  It's hard to keep track of everyone, especially when our last name changes.  I'm Janet's daughter Kim.  I live in Salt Lake, and have been married to Todd for 8 years.

New To Taylor Blog

Hi everyone,
I just found out about the Taylor blog.  It is nice to be able to read about all of you.  I am planning on attending the family reunion, if everything goes well.  I'm expecting a baby in mid august, so I hope to make it.  My daughter Emily just turned 1 last sunday.  I can't believe it!!  Here's a picture of her.

more David

OK, someone else post something because I feel like I'm taking over.
Just letting everyone know that David just had tendinitis. He has been put in an area where he is 'all car' and 'no bike' (Clearwater Florida) and is taking Napricin and icing his knees 4x's a day (I'll believe that one?? the boy doesn't ever slow down) and they will go from there.

Look forward to the reunion. I think, all but David, will be there, from our family!!!
Love,
(aunt) Betty

It's a boy!

Hi,
Just to let you know that Debbie had her baby boy last night at 11:49 p.m. She was only at the hospital an hour or so, maybe 10 minutes longer than that. Robert Patrick weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz, and 23 inches. Here is a picture off a cell phone, more to follow.

last post--David! aka Elder Pearson

Hi again,
Just telling everyone we're very grateful and feel very blessed, as David was hit by a car last week, and only suffered minor bruising. His bike was damaged fairly severe, but he wasn't. We're very grateful.

And he's been having trouble with his knees, so please keep him in your prayers. Will keep you posted as I learn what the doctor had to say. Probably nothing more than a very tall skinny boy abusing his knees by riding his bike to much!

The wedding date is set for Jeremy

HI,
Mark your calendar for July 3rd in Casa Grande, for the open house, for Jeremy and Rachel. The sealing will be July 5th, in Colonia Juarez, Mexico. It's about a 6 hour trip from Casa Grande, Arizona. Rachel's parents finish their mission July 1st, so it's a whirl wind of activities for them. Rachel and Jeremy plan on attending the Taylor reunion, still on for sometime the week of July 24th????? They are anxious for details on it as Jeremy is looking for a summer job that will let him have 2 weeks off for his wedding and a family reunion, in July, so... anyway....
and thanks to who ever posted all the picture!

Love,
Betty (Aunt Betty, to most of you)

Delrey finishes Master's degree

Hi All,
Just have to brag about Delrey. At age 49 (MUCH MUCH OLDER THAN ME) he's finished his Master's degree, in engineering, from Norwich University, in Vermont. Officially, graduation isn't until June, and we will be traveling to Vermont for the graduation, but it's 99% completed now, as he turned in his capstone project yesterday. Considering he graduated from Idaho State at age 31 and is now 49 and finishing his Master's degree, it's all very exciting.

Thanks, Brooke, for this blog so I can brag!

Love,
(Aunt) Betty

Jeremy's getting married!

Jeremy is engaged to Rachel Call, from Colonial Juarez, Mexico (the Mormon Colonies). We're very excited. The date is yet to be decided, but it will likely be in the Colonial Juarez temple. Her parents are serving as the mission president of the El Salvador, San Salvador West mission (yes, Jeremy's mission) and will return in July, so we'll see if they wait for their return or not. Pres. Call is thrilled, which speaks very highly of Jeremy since he KNOWS Jeremy (Elder Pearson) very well. Rachel and Jeremy met VERY briefly, in El Salvador, then got reacquainted at BYU, and have been dating a few months, steady for about 3 months. Anyway, we (Betty & Delrey) met Rachel at Delrey's mom's funeral, a couple of weeks ago and she is amazing. I'm VERY EXCITED!! Jeremy sounds so happy! Anyway, thought you should all know. Prete Family - minus one sock

I really enjoy looking through old pictures - most of them out of focus... but the culprit has since gotten glasses... and I giggle out loud every time that I see one of the Prete family visiting Idaho on a vacation - and Joe is missing one sock! I think we found that sock later that summer, but he didn't want it back for some weird reason!

Ray Taylor - Battle Tactic guru (explainer)

I remember begrudgingly waking up early for scripture study. We were mostly asleep and we'd all count ahead to see which verses we were in charge of reading. Verse 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 etc

One particular study session that I remember was when we were reading in Alma. We were reading about Captain Moroni and Captains Lehi, Teancum, and Prophet Helamen. They were pursuing the army of Amalakiah. One army was marching full speed ahead, and the other army was to get in behind Amalakiah's army. The army caught up to Amalakiah's army and the first army had to turn around to engage. Helamen's sons were also involved in the battle. While none of Helamen's army lost their lives, many were severely injured. But they were successful in their defeat of Amalakiah. Through their strategy, they were able to attack quickly and effectively and defend their families and homes.

This was one of my favorite memories of reading scriptures.
